05 May 2015
A charity and provider of care for older people and adults with dementia has been selected to participate in a pilot TV documentary that celebrates the increasing number of people turning 100 in the UK.
The Fremantle Trust saw three residents from its Cherry Garth residential and dementia care home in Holmer Green interviewed for the pilot documentary, entitled ‘Happy 100th’.
Jo Head, service manager at Cherry Garth, said: "We have celebrated a number of 100th birthdays here at the home so it’s great to see our residents receive recognition for such a big milestone in their lives.
"Having the Landmark team visit the home was fantastic and everyone at the home thoroughly enjoyed it. Our interviewees; Josie, Stella and Dot were delighted to be chosen for this exciting opportunity!"
Explaining the premise behind the show, Emma Goddard, development executive at Landmark Films, said: "We wanted to make a warm and engaging taster film that celebrates centenarians across the UK and explores the social history they have lived through.
"We were very thankful and privileged to have had the opportunity to speak to the residents at Cherry Garth and they have been a huge help in enabling us to develop our pilot, which we are hopeful will soon get commissioned."
