Administrators brought in to run Mental Health Care
Residential mental health care charity Mental Health Care Ltd, which operates 2 homes in the northeast of England, has gone into administration.
Insolvency and restructuring firm Moorfields Corporate Recovery has been appointed joint administrators of the charity.
Mental Health Care operates the Benfield Hall and Kimblesworth care homes in County Durham, both of which have provided residential mental health care support for adults for more than 20 years. The charity also operates a community cafe and garden maintenance business.
The administrators have pledged to ensure the homes continue to operate as usual and will look to sell them as a going concern.
Simon Thomas, joint administrator at Moorfields Corporate Recovery, said: "The healthcare sector is consistently finding itself in the public spotlight and the specialist care sector is no exception.
"The challenges over the standard of care and funding cuts have applied constant pressure. It is unfortunate that such a well-regarded charity is in administration but the care of the residents is paramount so we will continue to trade the care homes whilst we look for a buyer.
"We have taken steps to ensure the quality and standards of care are maintained and we are committed to ensuring residents experience minimum disruption."
